Spam-A-Lot No More

Email 'spam' is a huge issue for most Internet users.  In fact, 52% of participants polled in a recent survey stated that spam was more than a minor headache - it was a major problem. With estimates showing that spam represents up to 85% of all the email in the world, it's easy to see why.

For companies, spam is an even bigger problem. Not only is it a hassle to sort through unwanted emails, the potential to infect a network with email borne viruses can be devastating to productivity, data security and more.

David Poellhuber, founder of the Zero Spam, joined the Go To Market Show to discuss his company's solution to the spam challenge. David carries the CISSP designation - Certified Information Systems Security Professional.  This is the highest level of expertise that a person can carry when it comes to system security.  Poellhuber's unofficial title at Zero Spam is the 'Chief Spaminator' a reference the high-tech battle his company wages against spam every day.

The goal of Zero Spam is simple, get rid of spam before it hits the companies network. In simple terms, companies have their email routed through Zero Spam's cloud-based servers.  The company filters out the bad stuff and routes the good stuff to the company's network or email service provider.  A big advantage of Zero Spam's cloud-based solution is cost-effectiveness, and more importantly the fact that it keeps viruses out of a company's email network where users (knowingly or unknowingly) can pass on the bugs to other users through their email.

In addition to providing security, Zero Spam frees up resources - both in network processing by eliminating the vast majority of emails that are spam, and in IT resources because they don't have to spend time keeping up with the constantly changing world of email security. Companies like Zero Spam provide the added benefit of customizing the filtering process, accounting for industry terms and other items that can result in 'false positives' (emails that are flagged as spam but are not).  Being cloud based and serving as the first point of receipt for emails, Zero Spam can also provide disaster recovery protection for companies. Email can be accessed anywhere - even if something should strike a company's IT network.

A company with 20 email inboxes would pay about $50 a month for the filtering and backup  services at Zero Spam.  At 500 users, economies of scale drives the cost down to $500 a month.

With email being critical to business operations, finding an efficient way to protect network security and utilize resources effectively is a good thing.  Zero Spam is working hard to make it even better.
